Abstract (English)
This research, titled "A Study on the Teaching and Learning of Ancient Lao-Lan Xang History using the Think-Pair-Share (TPS) Teaching Method for History Teacher Education Students (Continuing Program), Year 1, Salavan Teacher Training College," had the following objectives: 1) To compare the learning achievement of students before and after learning with the Think-Pair-Share (TPS) teaching method. 2) To study the level of historical critical thinking skills among the teacher education students. 3) To study the students' satisfaction with the teaching and learning management using the Think-Pair-Share (TPS) method. The population for this research included Continuing Program students in both the Primary Education and History Teacher Education programs at Salavan Teacher Training College. The population consisted of one Primary Education sub-degree class (20 people, 8 females) and one History Education Bachelor's Degree class (9 people, 5 females), totaling 29 students (13 females). The sample group was selected using a purposive sampling method, consisting of the one History Education Bachelor's Degree class with 9 students (5 females) at Salavan Teacher Training College. The research instruments comprised: 1) Six lesson plans for Ancient Lao-Lan Xang History utilizing the Think-Pair-Share (TPS) teaching method. 2) Pre- and post-learning achievement tests. 3) An observation form for historical critical thinking skills. 4) A questionnaire to assess student satisfaction with the teacher's instruction using the Think-Pair-Share (TPS) teaching method. The research findings were as follows: The History Teacher Education students (Continuing Program), Year 1, Academic Year 2024-2025, at Salavan Teacher Training College, showed increased learning achievement, with post-test scores higher than pre-test scores. The average post-test score was Xˉ=28.33 (out of a total score of 30) with a standard deviation of S.D.=1.32. Comparing the two scores showed that each student had learning progress, indicating significant learning achievement with statistical correlation. The level of historical critical thinking skills among the History Teacher Education students (Continuing Program), Year 1, Academic Year 2024-2025, at Salavan Teacher Training College, was at a Good level. This was based on the predetermined criteria, with a total average score of Xˉ=4.00 and a standard deviation of S.D.=0.78. The History Teacher Education students (Continuing Program), Year 1, Academic Year 2024-2025, at Salavan Teacher Training College, showed the Highest level of satisfaction with the teaching and learning management of Ancient Lao-Lan Xang History using the Think-Pair-Share (TPS) method. This was based on the predetermined criteria, with a total average score of Xˉ=4.63 and a standard deviation of S.D.=0.48.
